We have supported this server paying through our pockets for sometime now. I am quitting my job and planning to do school which means the only source of income that we at wokaylah had has also dried up. I will be supporting this server till the end of April after which I am going to be forced out and this means, I will have to give this machine up.

Thanks a lot to all the people who helped me with this and showed enough faith to use the services.

I thought our users, would be wondering why we arent on wordpress 2.3 yet. Here is why.

Wordpress 2.3 has some unexplained inclusions in them with regards to privacy. Some features like an api which sends your blog and our server information to the mothership (wordpress.org). The worst part of it is that , it doesnt even let us disable it. Wordpress has been questioned regarding this, but the developers at wordpress refuses to comment which makes the whole thing more suspicious.

Hence we are awaiting a formal declaration and explanation from wordpress regarding these “uploads”. Once we have that we will move onto wordpress 2.3. If this does not come, then we will have to “hack” the code for wordpress and manually disable the “upload”. Eitherway, we will be on Wordpress 2.3 in the next few months.

Widgets are very useful. They help you create a customisable dynamic User Interface on your blog, without having to know html or php or any sort of coding. All you have to do is drag and drop columns and boxes.

To use UI on your wokaylah, simply login as admin (or any other user with administrator privilege). Go to the plugins page and enable the plugin “Sidebar Widgets”. Then goto the presentation link and you will see a tab for sidebar widgets. It doesnt even take 30 seconds to do the whole thing.

Now, in case your theme is not widget friendly, there is a way in which you can do that too. Just do exactly as this link says and you would have a widget enabled theme.

Wordpress has released wordpress 2.2 and we would be providing the new upgraded software for your blogs in a week.

We are giving the new release(released on 16th May) some time so that it can stabilize over the initial bugs found from user testing and then we would be providing you the upgrade options. We are also providing you with an interface which can be used by you to upgrade ur blog effortlessly over the internet, without we having to do it for you.

So hold your breath till we release the 2.2 Getz.

Global warming is a very serious issue. Five years ago, when it was touted as one of the major threats facing humanity, no one took heed. Everything was nice and working and there was no need for panic. The general public waited for the governments to do something. After all environment is the governments responsibility. Wrong!

Five years later, the climate around the globe is changing. Temperatures have increased and is threatening to reach a point which would be termed as unbearable. Now people have realised that if it goes like this, five years down the line we would be in for a really difficult time. Global warming is threatening our way of life and the planet we live in.

It is only through education that we can curb this rate of carbon emission and fuel depletion. Global warming cannot be stopped, but yes, it can be curbed, curbed with education, each responsible individual taking steps to curb it.

We are one month into wokay lah and we have 40 users now . Even though some of the users are the lyrics, quotes , etc,. we do have some human users like bijur, smile , farhana, kanchan , sarah etc..

Through the past one month the changes we made to the website are as follows :

1. The changes have been made to easily create blogs in three steps.
   • Enter username and email id (for wokaylah)
   • Enter blog title and email id for ur own blog.
   • Complete!
2. Changes made to the wokalah logo, which looks much better now and conveys the true spirit of wokaylah.com. The logo was done by farhana
3. Wokaylah now has 30 plus themes pre loaded for you to chose from.
4. Wokaylah now has over 10 plugins including plugins for spam protection (spam karma2), sidebar widgets etc.
5. Wokaylah now is structurally designed for further development.

There are still things to do. We are currently working on

• Methods to help users to upgrade their wokaylah installations for wordpress so that they can do this on their own. For this we would have to create user accounts which the users will have to use to upgrade their installations.
